Prime Minister Shinzo Abe took the initiative to strengthen relations between Japan and the rest of Asia. The program, called Kakehashi (Japanese for “building bridges”), will provide full scholarships to Asian high school students to study in Japan’s public and private high schools over the next five years. Together with promising Japanese students, these young scholars will improve their global competence skills and scientific learning.
AFS organizations took the responsisbility to screen out and select the students from different Asian countries for this program. AFS uses multi level competitive exams and evaluation process to choose the best one.
